AMRITSAR: Though the dissatisfied leaders of the Congress, including Karamjit Singh Rintu, who had previously contested from the Amritsar (North), Ashwani Kumar Pappu and Joginder Pal Dhingra, had given an ultimatum to the party leadership to change the candidate, they do not seem to be in a mood to rebel against the decision.

Amritsar, January 16

Though the dissatisfied leaders of the Congress, including Karamjit Singh Rintu, who had previously contested from the Amritsar (North), Ashwani Kumar Pappu and Joginder Pal Dhingra, had given an ultimatum to the party leadership to change the candidate, they do not seem to be in a mood to rebel against the decision.

The trio had objected to the candidature of former Mayor Sunil Butti. However, speaking to The Tribune, Karamjit Singh Rintu, a prominent aspirant, said he is yet to take any decision and he would decide after consultations with his supporters.

Rintu, along with the other aspirants, had threatened the party leadership two days ago. — TNS
