Cultural programme held at Attari border

AMRITSAR: The Song and Drama Division of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting in coordination with the Border Security Force presented a special cultural programme at the Attari-Wagah joint check-post here today.

The Song and Drama Division of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting in coordination with the Border Security Force presented a special cultural programme at the Attari-Wagah joint check-post here today.

The programme was focused on the government’s welfare initiatives, including ‘Ek Bharat-Shreshth Bharat’ and ‘Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao’.

Folk dances of various states were performed in the event. The programme was inaugurated by DIG (BSF) JS Oberoi, who was the Chief Guest of the event, along with Commandant Sudeep as the Guest of Honour.

A skit on ‘Beti-Bachao-Beti Padhao’ was performed by the artistes of Song and Drama Division along with folk dances of Jammu-Kashmir, Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh and Punjab.

DIG Oberoi said, “Daughters are very important for creating a better society. Since 2015, when the ‘Beti-Bachao-Beti Padhao’ programme was launched at the national level, there is an increase in their ratio. People have started understanding the value of daughters who are an integral part of society.”

On this occasion, six budding girl players from border villages and women sarpanches from Rattan Khurd, Roranwala Khurd and Chakla Bakhsh villages were also honoured.

Assistant director, song and drama division, Baljit Singh and field publicity officer, directorate of field publicity, Rajesh Bali were also present in the event.
