DC honours special Olympians as they return to rousing welcome

AMRITSAR: Pingalwara’s three children, Raju Rajinder, Poonam and Suraj, after winning medals and participating in World Special Winter Olympics- 2017 held at Viena (Austria) arrived in Amritsar and were given a mammoth reception by the district administration, represented by Gurpreet Singh Tehsildar -II and all residents of Pingalwara at the Manawala branch.

Pingalwara’s three children, Raju Rajinder, Poonam and Suraj, after winning medals and participating in World Special Winter Olympics- 2017 held at Viena (Austria) arrived in Amritsar and were given a mammoth reception by the district administration, represented by Gurpreet Singh Tehsildar -II and all residents of Pingalwara at the Manawala branch.

Raju Rajinder won gold medal in floor hockey and Poonam won bronze medal in floor hockey (women) and Suraj participated in unified floor hockey. They were brought in a procession from Manawala Complex to the main branch of Pingalwara and again were accorded a warm reception by Pingalwara residents. On the route, they were accorded a warm reception at Amritsar main gate and Ram Talai chowk by residents.

Dr Inderjit Kaur welcoming them exhorted all other students to excel in games and studies and win laurels for Pingalwara so that its name is known all over the world.

Deputy Commissioner Kamaljit Singh Sangha also honoured thh gold medal winners from the Pehal resource centre, who also won medals in floor hockey.
