Amritsar, June 15
A demonstration of the Arterial Blood Gas (ABG) machine was conducted at the intensive care unit (ICU) of Guru Nanak Dev Hospital on Friday.
The absence of the diagnostic machine had been forcing patients at the hospital to get their tests conducted from outside at higher costs.
The Tribune on June 8 highlighted the absence of machines to perform crucial tests required for patients at gynaecology department of the hospital.
An official at the hospital said the new facility would help in saving time and getting reports. Earlier, the hospital had an ABG machine at the gynaecology ward which was lying defunct for many years. The new machine would cater to the needs of the entire hospital.
Medical Superintendant Dr Surinder Paul said the administration was committed to provide better medical services to the patients. He said a local philanthropist had also gifted a AC to the hospital, which would be installed in the labour room.— TNS
