Drug peddler held with opium, cash

AMRITSAR: The CIA staff of the Amritsar rural police have arrested a drug peddler, Sarabjit Singh, a resident of Kotla Sultan Singh, for allegedly possessing 100 gm of opium.

The CIA staff of the Amritsar rural police have arrested a drug peddler, Sarabjit Singh, a resident of Kotla Sultan Singh, for allegedly possessing 100 gm of opium. The police also recovered Rs 1.44 lakh from him.

A case under Sections 18, 61 and 85 of the NDPS Act has been registered against him. Further investigations were under progress. According to information, a team of the CIA staff was going towards Majitha and reached near Hamja village when they intercepted a scooter (bearing registration number PB-02-CN-0925) being driven by Sarabjit. During investigation, the police found the contraband from his possession. The officials said Rs 1.44 lakh was recovered from the dickey of the scooter. He said he got the money after selling the opium.
