Drug peddler held

The Special Task Force (STF) arrested a drug peddler, Manpreet Singh alias Monty of Kotla Majha Singh village, Majitha, and recovered 60 gm of heroin from his possession here yesterday. He was arrested near Guru Ram Dass Ji International Airport.

He was about to board a plane for Mumbai when he was arrested on a tip-off. He hid the contraband in his shoes. A case under NDPS Act has been registered against him.

Acting on the information he provided during interrogation, the police nabbed his accomplice Malkeet Singh today and confiscated a country made weapon.

Dr BK Singla, DSP, STF, said Malkeet was formerly associated with notorious gangster Jaggu Bhaganpuria. He said the police had been keeping a close watch on the activities of Manpreet and Malkeet Singh. They had been evading arrest for long.

Meanwhile, the STF has brought Jaggu Bhagwanpuria on production warrant in connection with seizure of 500 gm of heroin from Tarn Taran area. Five accomplices of Jaggu gang have been arrested. He was operating the gang from inside the jail.
