Amritsar, December 11

The campaign for the civic body polls will end on December 15. The electorate could exercise their franchise to elect councillors from 8 am to 4 pm on December 17, said Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kamaldeep Singh Sangha here today.

At a meeting held with representatives of all political parties contesting civic polls, returning officers and assistant returning officers, he said videography would be done at the highly sensitive booths and model code of conduct was being implemented strictly.

He appreciated the employees for their work in preparing the voter list and other poll related works.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Amreek Singh Powar said 1,400 police personnel were kept as reserve and they would be deployed at various intersections on the voting day.

Among others, district Congress president Jugal Kishor Sharma, SAD president Gurpratap Singh Tikka, BJP president Rajesh Honey, and Amarjit Singh Assal of the Communist Party of India were present.
