A delegation of the Punjab Parents Association (PPA) met Governor VP Singh Badnore yesterday in Chandigarh to request him to implement the Fee Regulation Act.
After returning to the city today, PPA president MK Sharma said they appealed to the Governor to regulate the fee structure and extra funds being charged by private schools in the state. The state government had enacted the Fee Regulation Act in December, but it is yet to be implemented, he added.
Sharma said lakhs of parents would face exploitation at the hands of school managements in the upcoming academic session, if the Act fails to get implemented.
“As the new academic session is about to begin, immediate action is required from the government for quick implementation of the Act,” the Punjab Parents Association demanded.
Members of the delegation urged the Governor to ensure the implementation of the legislation to keep a check on spiralling fee in private schools.
