Amritsar, May 21

The Border Security Force (BSF) confiscated two China-made pistols and four magazines near the international border here on Sunday. The incident came to light when a complaint was lodged with the Lopoke police station by the BSF authorities.

According to the BSF, it appears to be the handiwork of Pakistan-based smugglers who had dumped it near the fence for their accomplices in India. The police have registered a case under the Arms Act against unknown persons and initiated the probe.

BSF Assistant Commandant Sanjay Kumar, in a complaint lodged with the police, said, “At around 7.15 pm on Sunday when BSF personnel were patrolling near the Ramkot border outpost near Rania village, they found two pistols with four magazines.”

Investigating officer Kanwarjit Singh said they were trying to identify the Indian smugglers who were to retrieve the arms from the border. He said they were looking into the antecedents of certain people in the village or nearby villages.
