Amritsar, December 13

Dense fog enveloped the city this morning, resulting in low visibility on the roads and throwing life out of gear.

A few minor road accidents were also reported in the city due to the inclement weather and resultant conditions.

The supply of items of daily need such as milk, vegetables and other commodities also suffered.

Farmers were happy with the fog following a spell of rain. They anticipated that low temperature and fog would increase the yield of the wheat crop.

Kuljit Singh, a resident of Mahla village, said, “Prolonged and intensive winter is beneficial to the wheat crop and it is good that weather is foggy and the temperature is low.”

Surinder Singh, a city dweller, said, “I woke up around 6 am and found dense fog enveloping the stretch of the road in front of my house. Visibility was extremely poor and it was so cold that I found it difficult to go out for a morning walk.”

A dairy owner Hardev Singh said, “I distribute milk in the Ranjit Avenue area after commuting from the Loharka road connecting my village. Generally, I come around 7 am and return till 11pm.”
