Amritsar, January 1

With dense fog engulfing the city and adjoining areas, the arrival and departure of several trains got delayed here today. Several trains, including Tata Muri, Haridwar Amritsar Express, Shatabadi Express , Sawrana Shatabadi Express, Akal Takhat Express, Sachkhand Express, Pachim Express, Kathiar Express and Amritsar Express, arrived with a delay. Meanwhile, the departure of Howrah Mail, Saharsa Express, Bilaspur Express and Sawrana Shatabadi was also delayed due to foggy weather.

Similarly, due to dense fog in New Delhi, almost all morning flights arrived with delay. Airport authorities stated that there was no issue of visibility at Sri Guru Ram Dass Jee International Airport but due to delayed departure from New Delhi, the flights arrived late. The departure of all flights was on time here.

Two flights were diverted from Delhi and Chandigarh to Amritsar Airport.

There was a dense fog in the morning hours. It receded after 11 am with the emergence of sun. However, the evening marked the return of the fog.

The erratic run of trains in the region for the past couple of days has left the passengers inconvenienced.

The situation is likely to prevail for a few more days, say railway officials.
