Four arrested for firing at biker

Amritsar, February 22

The police have arrested four youths for allegedly opening fire at a biker. Yuvraj Singh was shot at by unidentified persons at Vikas Nagar here yesterday. The victim was operated upon today and his condition is said to be out of danger.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP) Lakhbir Singh confirmed the development and said they would be produced in juvenile court tomorrow.

The ADCP said an altercation over driving the bike at a high speed was the reason behind the incident. He said, “As per investigations, the youths stopped Yuvraj for driving rashly and this led to heated arguments. Later, one of the accused brought a pistol and shot at the victim. He suffered a gunshot injury in the stomach.”

Though people claimed that around six gunshots were fired, the police found only two bullet shells from the spot, the ADCP said.

Harish Behal, SHO of the Chheharta police station, said the police were waiting for the approval of doctors for recoding victim’s statement. — TNS
