Four booked for kidnapping, extortion

AMRITSAR:The Chheharta police have booked several persons for allegedly kidnapping and extorting money from a family.

The Chheharta police have booked several persons for allegedly kidnapping and extorting money from a family. Though the police have registered a case, no arrest has been made in this connection so far.

Among those booked include Savinder Singh, alias Shindi, Mukhtar Singh, alias Sukha, Inderjit Singh and his brother Gurjit Singh, both residents of Naraingarh area besides several unidentified persons. A case under Sections 365, 387, 389, 342, 323 and 325 of the IPC has been registered. 

Karamjit Singh, the complainant in the case, stated to police that on February 4, the accused barged into his mill, dragged him, his father and his cousin, kept them hostage for two hours, physically thrashed them and forced him to bring Rs 1 lakh from the house as extortion. 

He said he handed over Rs 1 lakh to Baba Sucha and later the accused left them. He claimed that several prominent persons later returned his money back.
