Gang of robbers busted, three held

AMRITSAR: With the arrest of three persons, the city police today claimed to have busted a gang that used to rob people in their autorickshaw.

With the arrest of three persons, the city police today claimed to have busted a gang that used to rob people in their autorickshaw.

Those arrested were identified as Sarbjot Singh, alias Sonu, of Housing Board Colony, Ranjit Avenue; Kuldeep Singh, alias Kala, of Nirankari Colony located on Fatehgarh Churian road; and Pardeep Singh of Chowki Wali Gali, Faizpura. The police have recovered as many as 10 mobile phones from their possession.

They were arrested after a victim approached the police. Hari Om Kumar, a resident of Fatehgarh Churian road, stated to the police that he hired an autorickshaw from the bus stand for his residence at the Fatehgarh Churian road on on January 16. When the autorickshaw reached near the Aare Wala Road turn, the accused halted the auto and snatched Rs 8,000 and a mobile phone from him. The Civil Lines police have registered a case under Sections 379-B and 34 of the IPC against them. The police said the accused were brought on police remand and further interrogation was underway.
