AMRITSAR: The teenage girl who tried to commit suicide at a local mall on GT Road two days ago, succumbed to her injuries today. The police have booked three youths on the charges of abetment to suicide following the statement of her father.

The teenage girl who tried to commit suicide at a local mall on GT Road two days ago, succumbed to her injuries today. The police have booked three youths on the charges of abetment to suicide following the statement of her father.

The victim jumped from the third floor of the local mall to end her life. She along with a male friend had come to visit the mall. A video of the incident has gone viral.

The girl sustained multiple injuries in the incident. She was taken to a private hospital. Her friend was rounded up by the police following the incident. He had reportedly gone to buy a pizza.

Those booked were identified as Rajbir Singh, a resident of Deep Avenue, Tarn Taran, Rajan and Chanpreet Singh of Tarn Taran.

Varinder Singh, the father of the victim, stated to the police that the accused used to harass his daughter whenever she went to her class. She was taking coaching for clearing the IELTS. He said on August 21, she called her mother and said the accused stopped her and did not let her go home. He said she told her mother the accused were planning to kill her. Later, in the evening, she got a call from the shopping mall that her daughter had fallen from the third floor of the mall and that she was taken to a private hospital.

The Maqboolpura police have registered a case under Sections 306 (abetment to suicide), 342 (unlawful detention), 506 and 34, IPC, against them.

The police were yet to arrest any youth in the case, said Sulakhan Singh, the investigating officer, while adding that a further probe was on.
