Various organisations paid homage to youth icon Bhagat Singh on his martyrdom day. The District Congress Committee (SC wing) organised an event in Ward No 56.

Speaking on the occasion, Congress leader Kishan Lal said the youth should learn from the life and sacrifices of Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev, who laid their lives for the motherland. Various speakers threw light on the life and ideology of the martyr on the occassion.

BJP Yuva Morcha stages march

A march was carried out by BJP Yuva Morcha members to pay homage to freedom fighters Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev on the occasion of their martyrdom day.

The march concluded at Jallianwala Bagh. However, Union Minister Vijay Sampla did not join the march.

Local BJP leaders led by district president Rajesh Honey, including, former minister Anil Joshi, Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina, Lakshmi Kanta Chawla and others were present. The Yuva Morcha also organised a Jansabha at Town Hall building. Honey exhorted the youth to read the books that had played a significant role in shaping the personality of Bhagat Singh.

Former minister Anil Joshi said it is because of the sacrifices made by them and other freedom fighters that the present generation is living in a free and strong country.
