Indore couple drugged, robbed

AMRITSAR: An Indore couple was drugged and robbed by an unidentified family in the city. They had come to pay obeisance at Golden Temple here. The incident came to light when the couple was admitted to a hospital in a semi-conscious condition.

An Indore couple was drugged and robbed by an unidentified family in the city. They had come to pay obeisance at Golden Temple here. The incident came to light when the couple was admitted to a hospital in a semi-conscious condition.

The victim have been identified as Kailash Chander and his wife Mohini. Kailash told the police that he along with his wife came to Dera Beas on October 13 where they met with a couple who had two children.

He said the accused befriended him, seeking help claiming that someone took away their luggage.

Kailash gave them Rs 1,000. On October 19, both families came to Golden Temple and went for having tea in the evening hours at Langar Hall. The accused brought tea for them. After drinking it, Kailash and his wife fell unconscious. When they regained consciousness, they found themselves at Guru Nanak Dev Hospital. He said the accused took away their gold chain, gold ring, a mangal sutra, gold earrings and Rs 7,000 from his wallet.

Sukhdev Singh, in charge of the Galliara police post, said the couple even did know the names of the accused who had two sons named Dharam and Param. A case under Sections 328, 379 and 34 of the IPC has been registered while further investigation is underway.

He said the police were checking out the footage of CCTV cameras to establish their identity.
