Iranian delegation pays obeisance  at Golden Temple, meets Akal Takht Jathedar

A delegation from Iran paid obeisance at the Golden temple on Tuesday evening. The delegation also met Giani Raghbir Singh, chief granthi and Jathedar of Akal Takht Sahib, and Harjinder Singh Dhami, president, Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee.

The delegation comprised Dr Ali Abbasi, Vice Chancellor, Al-Mustafa International University, Raza Shekri, Dr Murtaza Shani, Dr Athar Jafri from Delhi University, and Ali Akbar Shah.

During meeting with the Sikh leaders, the delegation invited them to come to Iran and visit the Sikh religious shrines there. The delegation members were honoured at the Akal Takht Sahib secretariat.

Dhami said the delegation from Iran comprised educators and faculty of university. He said they had discussions with delegation members to jointly work in various fields. Dr Ali Abbasi said Iranians had mutual relations with Sikhs and other religions of India. He said work could be done in many fields including religious history, Persian language development and promotion, education and culture. He said the delegation had discussion with the Sikh leaders in a comfortable environment.
