Man arrested with intoxicant tablets

AMRITSAR: The Majitha police have arrested Amarjit Singh alias Bhilla, a resident of Bhangali Kalan village, for allegedly possessing intoxicant tablets.

The Majitha police have arrested Amarjit Singh alias Bhilla, a resident of Bhangali Kalan village, for allegedly possessing intoxicant tablets. He was caught near Hamja village. He could not produce any documents regarding the habit forming drugs.

ASI Mukhtar Singh said he along with a police party was patrolling in the area when they found the accused coming from Bhoma Wadala village. He threw a polythene bag and tried to slip away. The police team caught hold of him and found him possessing 180 tablets of different brands.

A case under Sections 21, 22, 61 and 85 under the NDPS Act has been registered against him. Further investigation to ascertain the source of the contraband was under way.
