Man arrested with intoxicating tablets

AMRITSAR: The police have nabbed Vijay, alias Kaka, of Bath village and confiscated huge quantity of habit forming drugs from his possession.

The police have nabbed Vijay, alias Kaka, of Bath village and confiscated huge quantity of habit forming drugs from his possession. He was produced in the court and sent to judicial remand.

Investigating officer Jasbir Singh said the accused was intercepted at a checkpoint (naka) at Bath village drain. He said he tried to run away but was caught. He was found possessing over 1,200 intoxicating tablets.

According to preliminary probe, Vijay is a drug addict. He used to sell intoxicants to earn money and fulfill his drug needs. He told the police that some people handed the contraband over to him at the Majitha bus stand and he had no knowledge about them.

He used to sell the intoxicants to his clients by roaming in different villages.

The police said further investigation was under way while the accused was sent to judicial remand till July 7. A case under Sections 21, 22, 61 and 85 of the NDPS Act was registered against him.
