AMRITSAR: Acting on a tip-off, the Amritsar rural police have arrested Satpal Singh of Dashmesh Nagar for allegedly preparing fake currency and circulating in the market.

Acting on a tip-off, the Amritsar rural police have arrested Satpal Singh of Dashmesh Nagar for allegedly preparing fake currency and circulating in the market.

The police recovered counterfeit currency to the tune of Rs 22,400 in the denomination of Rs 100.

Harsandeep Singh, SHO, Jandiala police station, said Satpal was arrested near Sohi Farm in Dashmesh Nagar. The police had received inputs that the accused was involved in preparing and circulating fake currency. He said he used to exchange genuine currency notes with fake ones. A raid was conducted to arrest him. He was going towards Jandiala from his locality on a bike. Further investigation is under way, he said. A case under Sections 489 (A), 489 (B), 489 (C) and 420 of the IPC has been registered against him at the Jandiala police station. — TNS
