Amritsar, October 21

Illegal firms involved in money-laundering continue to dupe innocent people while the law-enforcing agencies look the other way.

In yet another incident, a local resident, Resham Singh of Amalpur village, and his relatives were duped by a few Ferozepur residents of Rs 9.50 lakh on the pretext of getting them handsome returns on their money.  According to the victims, Kin Innertek Limited Company lured them to invest money in various schemes to get handsome returns.

A marginal farmer, Resham alleged that he would sometimes borrow money to pay monthly instalments, but they did not get any refund. He said his repeated requests of getting the money back proved futile while the owner of the company, identified as Sukhchain Singh of Yaareshah village, and his accomplices fled after shutting down their establishments abruptly.

He filed a police complaint in December 2016 and following a probe by the Economics Offences (EO) Wing, the Amritsar rural police have booked seven persons.
