Finally after a year, the MC has once again started the process of paintings of walls of the Bhandari bridge under its beautification programme. Earlier, the paintings and graffitis on bridges and walls along roads under the beautification project had got faded after some time. At some places, these have got washed away completely.

The authorities had spent heftily on these paintings before the elections. Not only wall paintings, flex boards depicting the Punjab heritage are also missing. The flex boards were installed to hide the filthy roadsides.

The MC had got painted ‘phulkaris’ on the walls along Bhandari bridge. A firm was hired to do so. Now the painters hired by the MC are once again on the job to make paintings.

Residents are elated over the move of the MC for beautification but at the same time they want the usage of durable paint to save the public money. “It is good to beautify the city walls. Earlier, the paintings on the same walls had got washed out during rains. The firm hired by the MC may have used poor material. Colourful paintings look good but these should exist for long,” said Gurpreet Singh, a local resident.

“The paintings under the bridges are still shining as no rain water reach there. But the paintings and graffitis made six months ago have got faded. The MC should use good quality material for durability,” said Shally Randhawa, another resident.
