Mother seeks job for youth disabled during Army training

AMRITSAR: The parents of a local youth, who has been invalidated by the Army due to disability after sustaining a severe injury during training at the Officers Training Academy (OTA), Chennai, has requested the the Defence Minister to assign him any non-combatant role.

The parents of a local youth, who has been invalidated by the Army due to disability after sustaining a severe injury during training at the Officers Training Academy (OTA), Chennai, has requested the the Defence Minister to assign him any non-combatant role.

In a letter to Defence Minister, Karamjit Kaur, mother of Sukhkanwarpal Singh, has pleaded that keeping in view the future of her son, the minister should make arrangements for adjusting in wing of the Army or in civil departments.

Karamjit Kaur said her son Sukhkanwarpal Singh had joined the Officers Training Academy, Chennai, in October 2015. A few days later, he got his arm severely injured during training.

The mother has requested the defence minister to consider the fact that his son wants to serve the defence forces. “In many cases in the past, the armed forces have adjusted trainees injured during the course of training. My son’s case is similar to such instances,” she added.
