MP for more int’l flights from city

AMRITSAR: MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla has urged Thai Airways and Jet Airways to start international flights from Amritsar.

MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla has urged Thai Airways and Jet Airways to start international flights from Amritsar. He met Sunil Kumar, sales manager, North India, Thai Airways International, and Kavita Joshi, head of North India and Nepal, Jet Airways, on various instances and invited them to visit the city airport to explore business prospects. He said the officials showed keen interest in starting international flights from Amritsar. He said the airlines had been awaiting for the arrival of new aircraft to expand their operation.

Aujla has also invited Virgin Atlantic, Lufthansa, British Airways, Air India, Etihad, Emirates, Fly Dubai and other carriers to begin or expand operations from Sri Guru Ramdas Jee International Airport. Aujla has also discussed aviation prospects with Tanmanjeet Singh Dhesi, MP from UK.

“The holy city is spiritual and the cultural centre of the Sikh religion and a preferred destination for the Punjabi diaspora and foreign tourists. It hosts more than 35 million pilgrims annually. More than six million Punjabi diaspora that is settled across the world in North America, Canada, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, South East Asia and Middle East countries,” he added.
