AMRITSAR: Two days after killing his brother over a property dispute, the prime accused, Jatinder Singh (45), committed suicide by hanging himself from a tree in his fields in Birbal village here today.

Two days after killing his brother over a property dispute, the prime accused, Jatinder Singh (45), committed suicide by hanging himself from a tree in his fields in Birbal village here today.

He, along with his son Jagjit Singh alias Jagga, had allegedly killed his brother Kabal Singh over a property dispute. They had fled along with their family and the police was raiding various places to nab them.

Attari DSP Jagjit Singh, along with other police officials, reached the spot after receiving the information. The incident came to light after villagers found him hanging in the morning.

Kabal Singh (40) was allegedly killed over a property dispute in Birbal village that falls under Kamboh police station. According to the police, the dispute was going on for the past four years. On Friday, Kabal Singh was going to his fields when the accused had a quarrel with him. They attacked him with a spade, leaving Kabal dead on the spot.

After committing the crime, they went to their house and fled with the family. The deceased is survived by his wife and a 14-year-old son. The police have registered a case against the accused under Section 302 of the IPC.
