Mystery shrouds youth’s death, one booked

AMRITSAR: A youth was found dead in a gutter in the Vallah area here today. The deceased has been identified as Prince, a resident of Indira Colony in the Mustafabad area. Prince was missing for the past five days while his family alleged that he was murdered and later, his body was dumped in the gutter outside a marriage resort in the Vallah area.

Amritsar, February 22

A youth was found dead in a gutter in the Vallah area here today. The deceased has been identified as Prince, a resident of Indira Colony in the Mustafabad area.

Prince was missing for the past five days while his family alleged that he was murdered and later, his body was dumped in the gutter outside a marriage resort in the Vallah area.

The police said they were investigating the matter and the cause of death could be ascertained after receiving the report of a post-mortem examination.

Malkeet Singh, father of the deceased, said his son had gone with Ajay Kumar of same the area for some work around five days ago, but he did not return. Malkeet said Ajay’s residence was now locked.

Enraged over the death, family members of the deceased protested in the Batala road area. They demanded immediate registration of a murder case against Ajay.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP) Jagjit Singh Walia said a case under Section 302 of the IPC had been registered against Ajay Kumar on the complaint of the deceased’s father. The ADCP said further investigations were on. He said the autopsy report would ascertain the cause of the death. Walia said raids were on to arrest the accused.
