Notorious criminal held

AMRITSAR: The Counter intelligence today claimed to have nabbed a notorious criminal wanted in many criminal cases, including attempt to murder and kidnapping.

The Counter intelligence today claimed to have nabbed a notorious criminal wanted in many criminal cases, including attempt to murder and kidnapping. The police also recovered a weapon from his possession.

In a press release issued here today, Kuljit Singh, AIG, Counter Intelligence, said the accused was arrested following a tip-off. He was identified as Gurparvesh Singh, alias Bhesha, a resident of Basti Vakeelan Wali village in Ferozepur. The police recovered a 9mm pistol, and five live cartridges from his possession.

A case under Sections 25, 54, 59 of the Arms act has been registered against him and further interrogation was under progress.

“Gurparvesh is wanted in more than 10 cases of attempt to murder, kidnapping and vehicle jacking, registered in various police stations of the state,” he said.

In April 2016, he, along with his accomplices, kidnapped a Ludhiana resident, Robin Mittal. When contacted for ransom, his family members informed the police. As a result, Amarbir Singh, alias Gopi, and Balwinder Singh, alias Billa, were got arrested while Gurparvesh and his other associates managed to flee.

Another case of carjacking stands registered against Gurparvesh at Ferozepur and a kidnapping case at Zira. To evade his arrest, Gurparvesh was shifting his abode from one place to another. — TNS
