Over 200 sportspersons honoured at DAV College

AMRITSAR: The sports and athletic meet of DAV College concluded here today. Around 220 sportspersons were awareded. Events, including 800-metre race (boys), shot put (boys), high jump, long jump (boys), sack race, relay race and obstacle race, were organised.

Amritsar, February 18

The sports and athletic meet of DAV College concluded here today. Around 220 sportspersons were awareded. Events, including 800-metre race (boys), shot put (boys), high jump, long jump (boys), sack race, relay race and obstacle race, were organised.

Om Parkash Soni, MLA, Amritsar Central, and Vikas Soni, Councillor from Ward No. 70, were the chief guests and Olympian Dr Tarlok Singh Sandhu, former dean and director sports Guru Kashi University, Talwandi Sabo, Bathinda, was the guest of honour.

Principal Rajesh Kumar extended a floral welcome to the chief guest and appreciated his presence on the occasion. Rajesh Kumar highlighted the achievements of the college in the area of sports.

Om Parkash Soni congratulated the college for the grand success of the two-day event in which more than 800 students participated overall. He congratulated the prize winners and shared some of his life experiences in order to address the need of sports in daily life.

In the valedictory function, prizes were awarded to nearly 220 sportspersons. The Roll of Honour was given to cricketer Abhishek Sharma for his outstanding performance in Under-19 World Cup 2018 in New Zealand. Player of the year award went to Ranbir Singh (best physique) for being adjudged as the best bodybuilder during the session 2017-18.
