A Pakistani national crossed the border inadvertently in the wee hours in Ramdas area today. Later, he was repatriated during a flag meeting of officials of the Border Security Force (BSF) and Pakistan rangers in the evening.
The middle-aged man has been identified as Nishar Ahmad Ansari, a resident of Kotli village in Shakargarh tehsil in Narowal district.
Ansari was apprehended by jawans of 164 Battalion, BSF, from fence at border pillar number 51/7 under the Area of Responsibility (AOR), Border Out Post (BOP), Kassowal, in Amritsar sector. He crossed over to Indian territory up to 200 metre through gate number 50/A at 5:30 am.
During preliminary questioning, Ansari said he strayed in by mistake. The BSF has not recovered any objectionable material from him. Later, the BSF informed their Pakistani counterparts for the repatriation of the arrested man. The meeting was held around 4 pm (IST).
