Parliamentary panel arrives in city

AMRITSAR: A 15-member delegation, including eight MPs, of Parliamentary Standing Committee on External Affairs, led by its Chairperson Shashi Tharoor, arrived in the holy city today of a two-day study tour.

Amritsar, April 30

A 15-member delegation, including eight MPs, of Parliamentary Standing Committee on External Affairs, led by its Chairperson Shashi Tharoor, arrived in the holy city today of a two-day study tour.

They will hold meetings at passport office and with the BSF at Attari Joint Check Post tomorrow.

In all, there are 30 members in the standing committee, including 20 Lok Sabha and 10 Rajya Sabha MPs.

The committee will visit Wagah Border in the evening, followed by discussions with the representatives of the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Border Security Force (BSF) on the subject of ‘Indo-Pak relations’, especially on the aspects related to border management along the Pakistan border.

They will visit the Regional Passport Office followed by holding discussions with the representatives of MEA, Regional Passport Office, Police, Postal, CPWD authorities and agencies concerned on the implementation of Passport Seva Project tomorrow.

They will fly back to Delhi in the afternoon on May 2
