AMRITSAR: Senior citizens and pensioners are seeking the attention of political parties and candidates towards their demands.

Amritsar, January 18

Senior citizens and pensioners are seeking the attention of political parties and candidates towards their demands.

Surjit Singh Goraya and Sukhdev Singh Pannu, president and general secretary of the Pensioners Welfare Association, said the successive governments had ignored their demands. He claimed that the government had not released their DA for the past 17 months and other demands were not yet fulfilled.

A senior citizen, Bakshish Singh, said the concept of separate queues for the elderly was not being followed in letter and spirit in public offices. “Senior citizens were being forced to stand in the same long queues during demonetisation despite the winter season.” — TNS
