Pingalwara mourns Barnala’s death

AMRITSAR: A condolence meeting was held at Pingalwara to mourn the demise of former Punjab Chief Minister Surjit Singh Barnala, one of the patrons of All India Pingalwara Charitable Society.

A condolence meeting was held at Pingalwara to mourn the demise of former Punjab Chief Minister Surjit Singh Barnala, one of the patrons of All India Pingalwara Charitable Society.

Dr Inderjit Kaur, director, Pingalwara, said Barnala had a long and close association with Bhagat Puran Singh. “He was a deeply religious man and led his life as per the teachings of Gurbani. He was closely associated with Sant Harchand Singh Longowal and attended his annual anniversary regularly. He was also closely associated with eminent environmentalist Sundar Lal Bahuguna, who used to love and respect him a lot. Apart from being an administrator, he also indulged in writing and painting,” she said in her address.

Barnala’s demise is an irreparable loss to the state of Punjab in general and Pingalwara family in particular, she said.

Vice-president of Pingalwara Dr Jagdeepak Singh, secretary Mukhtar Singh, member of Pingalwara Society Rajbir Singh, administrator Col. Darshan Singh Bawa and general manager Tilak Raj, among others were also present on the occasion.
