Family members of SAD leader Mukhjit Singh Mukha on Tuesday lodged a written compliant with Police Commissioner SS Srivastav, accusing the then DCP Parampal Singh and SHO Harinder Singh of submitting fake documents to the Punjab and Haryana High Court (HC) by forging their signatures. Parampal Singh had filed a revision petition in the court in connection with the Mukha encounter.

In the compliant, which was released to the media, Yuvraj Singh, nephew of deceased Mukha, alleged that cops had submitted a form number 25-35 (1) and statements of Princepal Singh and Sukhdev Singh, recorded by the police under Section 175 of the CrPC. He alleged that both the documents had wrong information and the cops had forged their signatures.

Demanding a probe, he said that the city police should register a case after holding an investigation by a senior police official.

The police commissioner said that he had received the complaint while adding that the matter was in the court and it would be not be appropriate to say anything on this at this juncture. He said the matter would be investigated.

Parampal Singh, who is now the Amritsar rural police chief, while denying the charges, said that the matter was in the HC and he could not comment on this at the moment.

Mukha was gunned down in 2015 by the narcotics wing of the local police after mistaking him for notorious gangster Jaggu Bhagwanpuria. After agitation, the state government had constituted an SIT headed by the then IG (investigation) G Nageshwara Rao. Following a probe, the police have booked around nine cops.
