Police claim solving four robbery cases

AMRITSAR: A day after the busting of a gang of robbers, the police today claimed to have solved four robbery cases, including that of snatching of a car from Dr Inderpal Singh Pascricha.

A day after the busting of a gang of robbers, the police today claimed to have solved four robbery cases, including that of snatching of a car from Dr Inderpal Singh Pascricha.

Investigating officer Satnam Singh said the accused was produced in the court and brought on two days’ police remand. During interrogation, the accused admitted to having committed three more robberies in which they snatched three motorcycles from different persons on gun point. He said while the police had seized one motorcycle from the spot, the remaining two were yet to be recovered.

He said they had snatched a motorcycle from the Rambagh area while two other bikes were robbed from the Division B police station area.

The police had arrested four persons, identified as Kulwinder Singh, alias Kaka, son of Dara Singh and a resident of Mule Chack village, YadwinderPal Singh, alias Yaad, son of Gurbax Singh of Jotisar Mohalla, Jandiala, Varinder Singh, alias Robin, son of Narinder Singh of New Gurnam Nagar, and Gurdev Singh, alias Goba, son of Kulwant Singh of Kirtangarh Thande village.

Their fifth accomplice Amandeep Singh, alias Amand, son of Surjit Singh of Gurnam Nagar on the Sultanwind road here, was still missing and raids were being conducted to nab him. Satnam Singh said interrogation was still under progress and more snatching instances were likely to be solved in future.

The police arrested the culprits from a park in the Jahajgarh transport area here last evening. The police had recovered a .12-bore pistol and three cartridges from Kulwinder, a .32-bore pistol, three rounds and a magazine from Yadwinder and sharp-edged weapons from the other two accused. The police had also confiscated 250 gm narcotic powder from Kulwinder and 190 gm from Varinder while 201 gm narcotic powder was confiscated from the other two. A case under Sections 399, 402, 379, 411, IPC, Sections 25, 54, 59 of the Arms Act and Sections 21, 22, 61, 85 of the NDPS Act against them.
