Police party attacked, miscreants booked

AMRITSAR: A team of local police was attacked by several persons when they went to arrest an accusedwanted in a bootlegging case.

A team of local police was attacked by several persons when they went to arrest an accusedwanted in a bootlegging case.

The police have booked three persons in this regard. They were identified as Dayal Singh, his brother Manga and Vickey.

Besides, several unidentified persons were also booked.

ASI Sawinder Singh said he was posted at the Daburji police chowki.

He said he, along with a police party, had raided at a house in Bhagtupura village to arrest Dayal Singh. He had been evading the arrest for the past three years and was declared a proclaimed offender.

However, when they reached the place, the accused, along with others, entered a scuffle with him.

They toppled his turban and inflicted injuries.

Later, they called more police personnel for help. But they fled the spot.

The police have registered a case under Sections 186, 353, 332, 333, 295, 148 and 149 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against the accused while no arrest has been made so far.
