Powercom employees under the banner of joint forum and the ekta manch, stressing on their current demands, staged a protest dharna in front of the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) Circle Office on Monday. The employees burnt effigies representing the state government, marched through the town and presented a demand charter to the SDM.

Gurpreet Singh Gandiwind, state president, joint forum, and other leaders condemned the state government and the management of the Powercom for their indifferent attitude towards their employees. The leaders said the organizations had been demanding for the removal of the existing anomalies in the Sixth Pay Commission, besides implementing the already accepted demands.

The leaders in the memorandum (presented to the SDM) warned that in case the demands of the employees were not met the organizations would stage a state-level dharna in Patiala on February 6 and then march to the residence of CM, in Sangrur, on February 13.
