Friday evening saw the glitterati of Punjabi entertainment industry celebrate with the Bollywood actors, Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh. Royal Stag Mirchi Music Awards held at Guru Nanak Stadium had the biggest and brightest stars of Punjabi music shake a leg and vie for the awards trophy in 12 film and non-film categories.

Those in attendance were Diljit Dosanjh, Gippy Grewal, Bohemia and Ammy Virk. Speaking on Radio Mirchi’s launch at the event by Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh, Bhanu Pratap Singh, vice-president and cluster head, Punjab, Himachal and J&K, said, “We are happy and excited to increase Radio Mirchi’s footprint in Punjab.

Meanwhile, promoting their upcoming film ‘Bajirao Mastani’ at the event, Deepika and Ranveer shared some of their past experiences in the holy city. “I was shooting for ‘Lootera’ in Dalhousie and came to visit the Golden Temple in Amritsar for a day. It was a spectacular feeling and I had amazing ‘paranthas’ and made friends here,” said Ranveer. Deepika, too, shared her memory of the last time she was in the holy city. “We went to a small tuck-in ‘dhaba’ and had Amritsari machhi. Amritsar and Punjabi people on the whole are very warm and loving.”

They also talked about the recent song ‘Aayat’ from their film sung by Arijit Singh. “Arijit is one of my favourite singers and the song is a very soft romantic number. Till now, ‘Bajirao Mastani’ posters, teasers and songs have been received well by the audience and critics and we hope that the film, too, does well,’ said Ranveer.
