Railways Ferozepur division bags five National Energy Conservation Awards

AMRITSAR: The Ferozepur division of the Railways, whose jurisdiction goes up to Jammu and Kashmir, and spread over parts of Punjab and Himachal Pradesh, has received five National Energy Conservation Awards 2016 from the Ministry of Power.

The Ferozepur division of the Railways, whose jurisdiction goes up to Jammu and Kashmir, and spread over parts of Punjab and Himachal Pradesh, has received five National Energy Conservation Awards 2016 from the Ministry of Power.

These awards are given by the Union government for saving electrical energy by adopting conservation measures. Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Anuj Prakash said the first prize for office building category and four awards in railway station category were bagged by the DRM Office, Ferozepur.

The first prize was given to the Ferozepur cantonment railway station, second prize to the Pathankot Cantonment railway station and two certificates of merits were for Jalandhar city and Ludhiana railway stations.

Awards were presented by Minister of State (independent charge) for Power, Coal, New and Renewable Energy and Mines Piyush Goyal in New Delhi recently.

Last year also the Ferozepur division had received three awards, including the first prize for divisional hospital and two second prize for the Jalandhar Cantonment and Amritsar railway stations. The Ferozepur division is as old as the Indian Railways, with a route of 1,849 km, including 164 km narrow gauge, and 262 stations.

Prakash said it was the largest and most difficult division of Indian Railways with several unique features. — TNS
