Robot-assisted knee surgery performed

AMRITSAR: Dr Avtar Singh, chief orthopedic surgeon at Amandeep Hospital, and Dr John H Velyvis, a renowned orthopedic surgeon from San Francisco, USA, claimed to have performed a successful joint replacement surgery on a 52-year-old patient using Robotics Surgical System, the latest robotic intervention in joint replacement.

Dr Avtar Singh, chief orthopedic surgeon at Amandeep Hospital, and Dr John H Velyvis, a renowned orthopedic surgeon from San Francisco, USA, claimed to have performed a successful joint replacement surgery on a 52-year-old patient using Robotics Surgical System, the latest robotic intervention in joint replacement.

The surgeons said, “Robot-assisted surgery enables a surgeon to operate with enhanced precision, dexterity and control even during complex procedures and ensures lesser bone removal, preserves natural anatomy and facilitates better post operative outcomes for the patient.”
