Amritsar, January 18

Local RTI activist PC Bali filed his nomination papers as an independent candidate from the Amritsar (North) constituency here today. The activist had recently filed a contempt of court petition in the High Court after which an illegal encroachment made by BJP cabinet Minister Anil Joshi was removed.

He said, “I know that winning the seat is difficult in times when election and corruption have become synonymous. I just want to give a message to the general public that fighting back with the corrupt and authoritarian leaders is not as difficult as they feel. I have been fighting alone for so long. I want people to fight back against misrule,” he said. Bali has been in news for his RTI queries and PILs.
