SAD market panel chief joins AAP

AMRITSAR: In a major setback to the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), the chairman of the market committee, Rayya, Mahinder Singh Chhajjalwaddi, joined Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) along with several other leaders in presence of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal at the residence of party’s Amritsar (South) constituency contestant, Dr Inderbir Singh Nijjar, here today.

In a major setback to the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), the chairman of the market committee, Rayya, Mahinder Singh Chhajjalwaddi, joined Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) along with several other leaders in presence of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal at the residence of party’s Amritsar (South) constituency contestant, Dr Inderbir Singh Nijjar, here today.

Chhajjalwaddi along with Surjit Singh Kang, vice-president and president, market committee, Jandiala Guru, and Arhatiya Association (commission agents association), Jandiala Guru, respectively, besides half a dozen other leaders resigned from their posts to join AAP.

Kejriwal accompanied by another senior leader advocate HS Phoolka, welcomed them into the party fold. Among others who joined AAP, include president, Rice Mills Association, Gurdial Singh, chairman, Cooperative Society, Chhajjalwaddi, Gurdial Singh, Zila Parishad member Satwinder Singh Johal and Block Samittee member Harpreet Kaur.

Speaking on the occasion Kejriwal said the three major political parties, including Congress, BJP and SAD were responsible for degradation of the political system and in the region. He said no intellectual was ready to join politics. “Now, many educated and people have joined hands with AAP to initiate reforms in society to end corruption and crime.”

He said it was due to degradation in politics that crime and corruption increased in Punjab.
