A team of experts, working on the Smart City project, interacted with morning walkers at Bolaria park here and discussed the proposed beautification plan for the park on Saturday.
The team included Smart City, Amritsar, CEO Deepti Uppal, team meader Manu Chaudhary, advisor Dr Balvinder Singh, urban designer Amit Kumar, senior landscape designer Samriti Sood, and communication expert Ramandeep Kaur.
The event was attended by members of the RS Bolaria Memorial Park Welfare Society and residents. People gave them suggestions to construct a wall around the park, make available drinking water facility, set up an indoor stadium, a water pool and slides for children besides removal of garbage from the park.
Residents also complained that the contract of safai sevaks engaged at the park had not been renewed. They stated that in absence of safai sevaks, the condition of cleanliness at the part had deteriorated.
Manu Chaudhary said many suggestions had been received which would be considered while implementing the park beautification plan. He said the initial plan, which had already been prepared, was also discussed with people.
Smart City project adviser Dr Balvinder Singh, retired head of Sri Guru Ram Das School of Planning, said, “The idea to involve residents in the project is commendable as they have to use the service and will take care of the property.” He said the involvement of public in every project is very crucial.
The Smart City team members stated that the suggestions of the residents would be duly incorporated in the plan after assessing their feasibility.
