Social activist honoured in Sri Lanka

AMRITSAR: Another feather in the cap of President awardee Swaraj Grover was added when she was felicitated with “Lifetime Achievement International Award” for her countless and continuous social works that she has been doing for the upliftment of society, especially women since 1968.

Another feather in the cap of President awardee Swaraj Grover was added when she was felicitated with “Lifetime Achievement International Award” for her countless and continuous social works that she has been doing for the upliftment of society, especially women since 1968.

She was honoured by Sri-Lankan Central Education Minister VS Radhakrishanan and Samata Sahitya Academy, Sri Lanka, president Dr DS Tandekar during “India-Sri Lanka Friendship Samta Sahitya Conference-2015” held at Maha Bali Centre Auditorium in Sri-Lanka. Swaraj Grover was among the five people selected at international level for the honour.

Earlier, she was honored in several countries with international awards. She was invited in many international seminars to speak on social issues.

Swaraj Grover provides free family counselling, helps in remarrying widows, perform dowry less marriages, help poor to get their daughters married, works against child-marriage, drug abuse, domestic violence, female foeticide and organise educational and value based programmes. While laying stress on peace in the world she said, “Today world sits on a pile of explosives where a small spark of discrimination, hatred, terrorism, injustice and anger can easily destroy it.”
