Amritsar, June 26

Special prayer ceremonies were organised at mosques in the city today, as a large number of devotees turned up for performing the namaz today.

Social organisations and political leaders from various parties participated in these functions to congratulate people on this auspicious occasion.

District Mahila Congress president Jatinder Sonia congratulated the community on meeting the Muslim Brotherhood in Jama Masjid, Jan Mohammad Town Hall, here.

Sonia said the mosque was the place where one was closer to spirituality. On this occasion, Shamshad Begum, Swaalia, Tabasum Khan and others were also present.

Youth Congress leader Vikas Soni participated in the event at the main mosque inside the Hall bazaar. He said the occasion taught people to live in peace and harmony with others without any bias or prejudice.

Lok Sabha member Gurjit Singh Aujla attended the event at the Khairdeenke masjid where he congratulated the devotees on this occasion. Rajya Sabha member and BJP leader Shawait Malik also visited the Khairdeenke masjid along with party workers to attend the event.
