Amritsar, September 7

To reach the masses, the Moga Municipal Corporation has devised a logo of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, which will be implemented in the whole state.

This was disclosed by Local Bodies Minister Anil Joshi here today while presiding over a function organised at Bachat Bhawan to honour Moga Mayor, senior deputy Mayor, deputy Mayor, MC Commissioner and other staff for streamlining the sanitation in the town.

Amritsar Mayor Bakshi Ram Arora has directed the Municipal Corporation’s health officer Raju Chauhan to visit Moga tomorrow to study the mechanism adopted by the Moga civic body.

It has been learnt that tractor-traillers, which have been pressed into service for lifting the garbage, have been equipped with geo positioning satellite (GPS) system. This helps to identify the location of each and every tractor-trailer. The control of this system will be monitored at the MC office by a worker. As soon as any complaint related to garbage lifting is received, the nearest trailer available on the targeted spot can be put on the job.

Similarly, the Moga MC had conducted a door-to-door survey of availability of individual household latrines (IHHL). The MC verified 3,377 application forms for setting up toilets and disbursed Rs 2,000 each to the beneficiary as per the government’s scheme. Moga has achieved 100 per cent success in converting the septic tank system into the modern flush system.

Amritsar Mayor Bakshi Ram Arora said, “The health officer will visit Moga and submit his report to us. We will not hesitate to replicate it, if it suits us.”
