Amritsar, April 21

In an attempt to promote the habit of reading among children, the District Library has been hosting storytelling sessions for the students of government schools in the city. From sharing stories written by famous authors to reading passages from popular children literature, the sessions have been interactive. “The idea is to promote reading under the National Reading Mission 2020. We had approached various schools in the city to collaborate with us through voluntary visits and had also approached the Deputy Commissioner with our request. After the notification by the DC, the government schools have been sending their teams, including student visits to attend these storytelling workshops,” informed Prabhjot Sandhu, librarian.

The library also celebrated Earth Day to promote awareness among people about environmental safety. It organised a drawing competition on the theme “End Plastic Pollution” to promote awareness.
