Family members of Simran Kaur, who had committed suicide on the premises of her school, staged a protest against the school management here today. They were demanding registration of a case against the school authorities. Simran had ended her life on May 19.
The demonstration went on for hours. Later, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, City –II, Gautam Singhal assured them of appropriate action, following which the protest was lifted.
The family members have given three days to the police to register a case, otherwise they would hold protest again.
Sushil Kumar, SHO, Cantonment police station, said preliminary reports of the autopsy revealed that she died due to hanging. Her viscera reports are still awaited. The case details have been sent to the Deputy Commissioner Police (Investigation) Jagmohan Singh for further action, the SHO said.
Manjinder Kaur, mother of the deceased, said the school management was responsible for her death. They said if the girl had already died, the school authorities should have called them before taking her to the hospital.
