Swindler couple steals jewellery

AMRITSAR: A couple stole gold bangles and a ring worth Rs 1.50 lakh from a renowned chain of jewellers located at the Mall road here on Sunday.

A couple stole gold bangles and a ring worth Rs 1.50 lakh from a renowned chain of jewellers located at the Mall road here on Sunday. The incident came to light when the staff counted jewellery items as usual in the evening. Later, they checked the CCTV footage to get to know that a couple, who had brought a child with them, had taken away the jewellery.

The police said that they had sent the CCTV footage and pictures of the suspects to the police stations and districts across the state.

ADCP Lakhbir Singh said, “The couple had stolen jewellery from an outlet in Tarsikka around two months ago. They had tried to steal jewellery in Chandigarh as well but were arrested and sent to jail.”

They are now out on bail, it has been learnt.

As per the details, the couple entered the showroom with a seven-year-old child. While checking out a number of items, they stole two bangles and a ring.

The woman later went to the washroom and from there she went outside. A few minutes later, the man also left the showroom.
