Tractor-trailer impounded for illegal mining

AMRITSAR: The Ramdas police, in association with mining officials, have impounded a tractor-trailer for illegal mining.

The Ramdas police, in association with mining officials, have impounded a tractor-trailer for illegal mining. The driver fled away from the spot leaving the vehicle behind.

Mining officer Purshotam Kumar stated to the police that when he signalled the tractor-trailer driver to stop, he abandoned the vehicle and fled away. They have recovered 200 cubic feet of sand. A case under Section 379 of the IPC and Section 21(1) of the Mining Act has been registered against unknown persons.

Meanwhile, in another incident, Naib Tehsildar Janak Raj, found an illegal sand mine in Ballarwal village. Acting on the orders of Sub-division Magistrate, he along with a team visited Ballarwal village and found an illegal sand mine on a chunk of land belonging to Bachan Singh.
